Designer Story
All of our products are proudly designed and crafted in New York City. Libby designs and metal-smiths prototypes for each piece in her studio in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She then works with NYC artisans to craft each additional piece.

THE ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY
We're just getting started, but we've got big plans. So far we're working on getting all of the Sterling Silver from 100% recycled sources. Already, the packaging for each piece is made from 100% post-consumer recycled products. We'd like to get to a point where all of our inputs are recycled material, and all of our energy comes from renewable resources... We're not quite there yet, but yes, it's on the top of our agenda.

All of the labor that goes into our products is based right here in New York. As much as possible, we purchase all of our supplies from local merchants.

As we grow, we'll be partnering with community organizations at every chance we get.

THE WHY
Jewelry is different than the rest of what we use to decorate our bodies. Unlike clothing, we don' t need it to stay warm. Unlike shoes, we don't need it to protect our feet.

For most of us, we wear jewelry because it has some kind of meaning. We were given it as a gift by someone who cares about us, or we purchased it from a place that has a significance we want to remember. Perhaps we pass it down through our families, or we give it to ourselves as a sign of our own capabilities.

There is also something deeply feminine about jewelry. It's not that men don't wear jewelry, it's just that women wear more. Nearly every woman wears some piece of jewelry, nearly all of the time.

This combination of jewelry as deeply meaningful and deeply feminine led me to launch Libby BK. I hope that women will give and receive these pieces and pass along the stories and the courage that go with them. I hope that these pieces will be a means for women to share the journeys of other women and to add their own, to both give and receive strength and inspiration.

I hope you like what I've got so far. This is just the beginning.
