WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A FASHION DESIGNER?

Seeing my design/creation comes to life.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOU BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

Trying to balance handling the creative design aspect of the label, whilst at the same time handling the business aspect of the fashion brand.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?

I tap into inspirations from my Australia everyday surroundings, from beautiful women with substance and, from memories and images from my African heritage. The inspirational trigger can come from a plant, a shadow formed by a tree, the shape/movement of a woman, The poise/intelligence demonstrated by women tackling difficult live situations – be it politics, social/legal activism etc., inspirations can also come from the photo spreads in a magazine, etc.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A DESIGNER?

I always loved fashion being exposed to a very fashionable career mother and an equally fashionable career father. However, after having my kids, the need to have a suitable job that would be flexible for me to do my parenting with a bit of ease, kick start my journey to becoming a self employed fashion designer.
