The accessories used to finish and complete the products (metal - rubber - plexiglass) are produced and manufactured by industry leaders in Italy. The surface is tested to the endogenous and exogenous agents; and also protected from scratch and shock by removable resistant certified film.

Yuko and Biba originated in Rome in 2001 from a collaboration between two professionals: Gianfranco Mottola, a designer of innovative and strong new ideas and Ilaria Di Domenico, a fashion editor, both operating for over fifteen years in the field. Their collections of bags and accessories are born from a shared passion for the cinema that gives life to the intuitive idea of combining technological materials, leather and art, creating a truly unique piece. An image fresh and young combined with the traditional craftsmanship of the "Made in Italy" is the basic concept of our creations.

Q+A
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING A FASHION DESIGNER?

What we love most is surely the ability to create and put something in the world that wasn't there. The innovation of finding new materials and design and to combine them to give birth to extreme new pieces is the challenge we like the most. What we try to do is to challenge fashion, not to follow it.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOU BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

Our biggest challenge as a brand has surely been opening our first store in Rome, Italy. It's been a rollercoaster but we are really glad we did it. What we really wanted was to put our designs out there and to have our flagship store in the city where all started, Rome.

Where do you get your inspiration?

What really inspire us is the ability to mix and match different fashion periods and moods, our main reference of course Cinema from the 60's, Italian Dolcevita fast fowarded into the avant gard visuals of 70's space movies. What we call "retrofuture"

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A DESIGNER?

We've been working in fashion for many years as fashion editors and when we came out with the idea of the movie film hand applied on the leather, we weren't thinking about merchandising it. It was the great interest of the people towards them that gave us the strength and the braveness to actually put them in the Italian market. What we are looking forward now is to actually expand and made our brand known all around the world.
