Alexandra Frida x Eye Wish Opticiens
Emerging designer Alexandra Frida presented her very fashionable eyewear collection at the XBank in Amsterdam. She designed this eyewear collection exclusively for “Eye Wish Opticiens”, the leading eyewear brand in the Netherlands which has 250 stores and collaborates with many global brands.
The key concept of the collection is to allow everyone to turn their glasses into a statement of their personality and style. Alexandra has created three models using 3D glasses applications in golden printing patterns and three necklaces, using the same technique. These glasses/jewels are available in the ‘Falcon’, ‘Beetle’ and ‘Cactus Flower’ models – and are named after the characters of the book “Arabian Nights”. Those who buy the glasses also get a case and a lens cloth bearing the iconic prints of the Frida brand.
Alexandra: “With this collection, I want to give everyone the chance to highlight their own style, regardless of their look.”
Alexandra Frida (born Alexandra Vollebregt) graduated from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) in 2009 – and then went on to become a teacher at the ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Arnhem. In January 2014 she made her official runway debut with a ready-to-wear collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Amsterdam. She was the only Dutch designer invited to present her collection during New York Fashion Week in 2015, and in November of last year, she was also nominated for the Global Denim Awards.
