WHAT WAS YOUR MAIN INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASONS COLLECTION AT NOLCHA?
The “Dark Birds” collection for the FW15 season debuts at Nolcha Fashion Week. It was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s strong blonde characters, and especially the movie “Birds”. There is another, a deeper message as well: as birds symbolize freedom and individuality, the collection encourages women to be fearless and even a bit crazy in fashion.
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING ASPECT OF BEING A DESIGNER?
I love all parts of being a designer! The 6 months while the collections comes to life from the first inspiration to the fashion show is very exciting.
WHATS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
Sometimes I need to deal with unnecessary things, that are not closely connected with my job as being a designer but I need to do them to help the brand grow.
WHAT PIECE HAVE YOU DESIGNED THAT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF?
In early February 2014, I have designed stage costumes for Gigi Radics, a popular Hungarian singer for the Eurovision song contest. I had to give options for her outfit, the vocalists and the dancers as well, and the time frame was quite short. Then, after the team decided about the sketches, I had to prepare the costumes very quickly. It was not only about the design process, but there were many other aspects (the moves, the lights and cameras, etc.) that I had to take in account.
WHATS THE FIRST PIECE YOU EVER DESIGNED?
I was 4 years old, and I designed a dress for my grandma’s birthday. I sewed it by hand, and in the end it looked like a big circus tent. I loved it, and imagined that she will wear it to pick me up in the kindergarten and I could brag about it. So granny’s birthday was a big family gathering, and while I showed how to wear the dress, I accidentally torn it. Everybody was laughing but it never made me sour. Instead it made me even more sure-footed about becoming a designer.
HOW HAVE YOU GROWN AS A DESIGNER SINCE YOUR FIRST COLLECTION?
While the DNA of the brand remained the same, I feel more freedom during the designing process, and my personality is more visible on the designs.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO CELEBRATE/RELAX AFTER YOUR NOLCHA SHOW?
Go out and party! I hope we will find lots of new friends and we will have a great night.
