There is a thriving emerging fashion scene around the world! Fashion week is always one of the best times for the nextgen to collaborate and introduce themselves to the world. During New York Fashion Week Runway Passport and emerging fashion designer Jia Wertz of Studio15 threw a fun and fashion forward event at the Gansevoor Hotel in the meatpacking.

Not only did we have a great time introducing our designs to the fashion world, we also love to uncover talented makeup artists. We had a great time working with emerging makeup artist Andrea Cortimiglia. She is definitely one to watch on the makeup artist scene. Get to know a bit about her below!

Recap from New York Fashion Week SS2017

Once again, our favorite time of the year in New York arrived,  which is no other than NY FASHION WEEK!!! This past week we got to enjoy some fabulous collections  from some fabulously talented designers that we were privileged to experience. We enjoyed seeing some of our old established faves on the scene that many of us and our very talented emerging fashion designers were inspired by, as well as of course the excitement of discovering new talent. Here are the three shows I attended. Enjoy!

– Joanna S of Le Chic

ALICE & OLIVIA

alice & olivia

This amazing presentation by Alice & Olivia brought an amazing collection that compiled bohemian edginess, which is what this known designer stands for. They are an inspiration to emerging designers in the sense that they can really think outside the box and create many looks that come together cohesively in one room.

GEORGINE

georgine

Georgine has been an emerging designer with exquisite talent for some time and we really do love this designer’s style and watching her grow. This collection was a lot different than her usual collections from the past in the sense that she incorporated more “punk” looks to her collections than her traditional girly, lace looks. This was great because she was able to create something much different than her usual style and she still succeeded which shows how great of a designer she is indeed!

ART HEARTS FASHION

art hearts

The designers from Art Hearts Fashion are very inspiring to all emerging designers and new talent because these designers shared a similar theme and heritage which was exuded in their collections. This season, it was for Serbia Fashion Week so the designers were able express their culture in their designs which were executed perfectly. From laser cut leathers, to beading, to large gowns, there was a vast variety of beautiful looks that took you through the designer’s journey.

VESTIPHOBIA by Uta Bekaia Fashion Show

Saturday night the artist and fashion designer Uta Bekaia invited us once again into his world where he presented his latest collection of art-wear works. Filled with smoke the dark room was solemn and heavy. The audience was transcended in a fantasy of an apocalyptic celebration that came to life through movement, video, music and text. He featured parts of ancestral rituals with elements of Butoh (Japanese Theater) , 19th century circus, and contemporary dance.

The stage was conceived as a fashion arena where costumes were the embodiment of animal instincts, dreams and desires. Digging in the unconscious’ most primal nature – violence and sexuality – VESTIPHOBIA offered a contemplation of vileness’ hidden beauty.

Georgine at New York Fashion Week – NYFW

Georgine was definitely one of the best runway shows we have seen this New York Fashion Week. We have attended the show before and loved their feminine, luxury, high end designs but this show knocked out their previous ones!

This show demonstrated a lot of innovative textures, nature inspired sequin flowers and insects, flowy fabrics, sheer materials, etc. which we appreciated so much! There was a lot of color and fabric blocking which was something we saw in a lot of other shows but Georgine definitely executed it in one of the most creative ways out of everything we have seen.

Below is a collection of some of fave fashion looks from the Georgine

Parkchoonmoo at New York Fashion Week – NYFW

This has been the third time we have attended the Parkchoonmoo fashion show during fashion week and this time around, we were just as impressed as always!

Parkchoonmoo is known for their delicate yet structured designs involving heavy weight fabrics that flow like soft weight fabrics. This show exuded that along with some cold weather accessories that complimented her designs such as arm muffs, faux fury hats, clogs, etc.

Below is a compilation of some of our favorite looks and pieces put together from the show that illustrate just that!

SDN Brooklyn @ New York Fashion Week

Only at new NYFW… pink-haired dog sits front row at SDN.

One of our favorites this fashion week was our own Marcus Hicks — the designer behind sustainable and Eco-conscious label SDN Brooklyn. The show was held at the beautiful Dune Studios and the audience was filled stylish and elegant SDN followers.

The black and white collection was minimal but made a point. We saw organic cotton voile long dresses paired with faux fur jackets and one was splattered with red paint followed by model carrying paint can, referencing PETA.

Some looks consisted of cropped suit-vests and jackets made from hemp and woolens, organic cotton fleece hooded dresses and long organic cotton t-shirts.

His very exciting “backward” oxfords, which are designed to appear as if shoes are on the wrong feet while structurally wearable, sound, and comfortable were featured again becoming a signature piece of SND.

Desigual @ New York Fashion Week FW16

Layers, layers, and more layers…at the Desigual show at New York Fashion  Week.

We witnessed an explosion of texture, color, and patterns at this Fall/ Winter 2016 runway show. The collection was inspired by the vibrancy of city life and “its creative lifeblood.”

The models came down the runway wrapped in geometric, floral, and metallic printed outerwear layered over printed brocade knits and topped off with animal friendly bright faux-fur coats and wraps. Some of our favorite looks included and all black-and-white mix of patterns coat that stole the show. Paired with some of the outfits were vegan leather backpacks, printed sheer gloves and suede pouch bags.

Along with such vibrant and vital patterns we were definitely all about the vegan animal friendly style.
